of a vocal Concert, with 20 items from Palestrina ('Sanctus' for Quintet and Chorus), Osiander (1586), Handel, Haydn, Mozart (the motet 'Verbum Caro'), Beethoven, Gluck, Cherubini and other 'moderns', many original alterations, Sir Henry has specified 'Soprano, Contr'Alto (Female).' but the names of the soloists have been pencilled in in another hand, they include some of the finest operatic and oratorio singers of the period - Giulia Grisi & her husband Mario, Staudigl (the first 'Elijah'), Caradori, Lablache (who taught Queen Victoria), and the bass-baritone Henry Phillipps, 2 sides 4to., no place, no date, watermark short tear mended without loss The programme reflects some of Sir Henry's many enthusiasms - he was conductor of the Concerts of Antient Music (with which Prince Albert was associated), and at various periods was at Covent Garden, Drury Lane and the King's, Haymarket. A later note says that the pencilled additions are by Prince Albert for a concert at Windsor, but this appears to be a mistake - the letter forms do not seem to be his at all, and there are several spelling errors (e.g. Staudigel for Staudigl). We are grateful to Mr Oliver Davies of the RCM for identifying the main handwriting as Sir Henry's.
