An official statement issued by the Chin…ese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 2, 1969, accusing Soviet frontier guards of intruding into the area of Zhenbao Island and killing and wounded many Chinese frontier guards. Zhenbao Dao in Chinese, Damansky in Russian, the location of the incident the PLA soldiers took part in, was once an uninhabited islet located on the Ussuri River between the border of China and Soviet Union. An agreement was made between China and Russia in 1991 that Zhenbao Island was Chinese territory.
