String binding loose (string broken) and beginning to pull from boards but still attached. Author inscription in red ink on front free endpaper, "May there be many tall trees in your life, May T. Watts," personalized to a named recipient; small Blue Heron bookplate on front pastedown additionally inscribed and signed "May," dated 7/14/65. Pages lightly toned, otherwise unmarked. Identification guide to 25 common North American trees from the Doubleday First Guides natural history series, designed for field use by young naturalists. Watts, longtime Naturalist at the Morton Arboretum and author of Reading the Landscape of America, received the Garden Club of America's Margaret Douglas Award for achievement in conservation education.
