Add to basketHardcover. Condition: VG+. Dust Jacket Condition: VG+. 1st Thus. These two volumes cover the early years of the 1900's, during which many of the famous liners that became household names before and after WWI were built, and described in "The Motorship", a noted British shipbuilding and ship design magazine that covered the produ…cts of the industry in great detail. Each volume contains text, plans and photographs etc from the original publications as selected and edited by compiler of the books, Mark Warren. The publishing house.Blue Riband, was established to again make available "the invaluable" material from "The Shipbuilder," Mark Warren also prepared new introductions for both volumes. The first volume contains information on 41 ships launched in the period covered, while the second examines 53 other passenger ships completed 1907 to 1914. Many of the ships included did not survive WWI, while others, including Titanic, were lost to marine causes. Lavishly illustrated, each carries a large number of photographs including ships, their interiors, machinery and fittings, construction and launching., both vols have six colour illusrations. Highly detailed plans in both volumes include hull sections, and engineroom details, also reproduced are 22 fold-out plans (vol 1) and 19 (vol 2). Another feature of both is the large number of marine related advertisments from the original magazine issues. Volume 1 is 233 pages followed by five pages "Motorship" adverts and one fold-out advert:, Vol 2 is 304 pages followed by eight pages adverts and one fold-out advert. Both have dark green hard covers with gilt front/spine titles which are VG++, both internally excellent, no inscriptions, Colour art DJs to each volume are VG+. These are quality productions and will enhance any collectiion of nautical books. Photos, Plans. Diagrams, Drawings, Graphs Etc (illustrator).
