    Red Hardback. Condition: Very Good Plus. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 1981. First edition. 199pp. Jack Scott was a pseudonym of Jonathan Escott (1922-1987), who also wrote as Jason Leonard. He is best known for his crime and mystery novels featuring Detective-Inspector Alfred Stanley Rosher. At the start of this novel Rosher has been demoted to Detective-Sergeant, and has been assigned to initiate a visiting American patrolman into English police procedure. The book is bound in the original red boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The dustwrapper has shelf wear with some light soiling and the top edge is rubbed. The spine ends and top front corner are bumped with a nick and surrounding crease on the top front corner. It has been price clipped with a later publisher's price sticker beside the clip.

The gilt lettering to the spine is bright and clear. There is very slight rubbing to the top and bottom of the spine. The dust jacket is intact with some scuffing but no chipping and no tears. Some very light creasing. Overall a really nice copy.

Slight rubbing to the tail of the spine. No inscriptions. The book is fresh, clean and tight. Dust wrapper is price clipped by the publisher with a previous price sticker to the tail of the front flap of the wrapper. There is a 3 cm tear to the tail of tthe front panel of the wrapper with some associated creasing , now expertly repaired. One short tear of 1 cm to the head of the rear panel of the wrapper,likewise repaired. There is a little rubbing to the head and tail of the spine of the wrapper and the wrapper has light shelf wear,including a vertical crease running the length of the rear flap of the wrapper.A near fine copy of this crime book in a very good minus wrapper.
