Caleb D'Anvers was a pseudonym of English poet and political activist Nicholas Amhurst who published a weekly periodical under the name D'Anvers aimed at the overthrow of Robert Walpole to whom this volume is dedicated. 248pp. Fullly bound in tree leather with gilt border to boards and gilt lettering (remains) and decoration to spine along with five raised bands. Light rubbing to extremities, heavier to head and foot of spine which has resulted in minor loss of leather to the head. Cut to head of upper and lower joints, not serious or damaging to integrity. Name (possibly A Eugene Tollemarche), dated 23.9.96 (century not stated but probably 1796) on free end paper which also has the stamp of Laystone House, Buntingford. Foxing to end papers. Text-block remains tight and in excellent condition.
