Information on the Columbus Company of Calif. emigrants also included. Discusses prospecting at various places such as Negro Bar, (where he notes a company of Negro miners), Foster's Bar, and elsewhere on the Yuba River. Describes Jan. 1850 flood on the Sacramento River. The accounts of the hardships crossing the desert are remarkable. One of the most fascinating of the overland accounts.
