Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. London, Heath Cranton / Maskew Miller, n.d. [1921]. First edition, first impression. Hardback. A very good copy. Colonial issue. A fairly unusual mixture of sf tropes including reincarnation, many worlds and apocalyptic destruction. In Blieler. Mason…was a South African astronomer. The present title appears to be a simultaneous publication in London and Cape Town. The book's spine bears the name of both publishers, with the block being printed in the UK. No known priority between the UK issue and the Colonial issue. The jacket's a little worn and torn, with a couple of 25mm tears, some dints to the lower edge, some staining to the spine. A little bumping to the tips, but generally a nice copy. [10614, Hyraxia Books]. n.d. [1921].

Bleak scientific romance by a South African writer. The planet Telluria, a duplicate Earth in a parallel universe is destroyed by a chain reaction resulting from the employment of a super weapon…invented by an idealist in a misguided attempt to destroy a world dictatorship maintained by the "Council of Six." Mason's preface dated "Capetown, October, 1920" refers to THE WORLD SET FREE by H. G. Wells, a novel he had not read prior to writing his own, which used the same idea. The title page carries the intriguing epigraph: "Modern Science, like Ancient Magic, may be either White or Black." Locke, A Spectrum of Fantasy Volume II, p. 79. Bleiler (1978), p. 135. Reginald 09781. Mild foxing to preliminary leaves and page edges, a nearly fine copy. (#170888).
