The 6 by 9 inch hardcover book is 278 pages and in good condition. The brown cloth boards are clean and have sharp corners, but there is fading to the spine. The text pages are without markings. However, it is from the Smithsonian library with call number tag to the spine and barcode to the back cover with associated stamping on the front free end page, dated 1976. The dust jacket is tucked inside but has creases and chipping concentrated on the spine. This is Daniel Boorstin's copy, with bookplate present inside. Daniel J. Boorstin was the twelfth librarian of congress from 1975 until 1987, appointed under President Ford. He was also an accomplished author of more than 20 books, contributing much to the fields of sociology and history. He was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1973, for his book, "The Americans: The Democratic Experience.".
