Dedication to Chief Inspector Charles Field of The Metropolitan Police. Bookplate of I.R. West to front fixed endpaper. Front board has dirty marks over two thirds of area, three gatherings slightly sprung at fore-edge, staining/foxing to prelims., and first chapter at inner margin. Rear free endpaper torn out carelessly, which took part of margin of last page with it: no text missing. Slight cracking to hinge at title page, but binding generally sound. Complete text but with faults as described; very scarce item.
