Condition: Very Good. Montigny [Belgium], 18th Battalion Education Office, 1919. Foolscap folio, 6 pages. Horizontal creases where folded for posting; small hole burnt in the first leaf, with a trifling scorch mark on the other two leaves; overall in excellent condition. One issue of a rare cyclostyled regimental paper; we have previously handled a substantially complete run, and the following information derives from that set. 'Information found on the second page of Number 11 indicates the first issue was published on Sunday 19 January 1919, in an edition of a mere 25 copies. Further interesting details include the names of the production staff, the method of production, and the print run. The [previous set comprised] the "Walcourt Argus", Number 2, Sunday 26 January 1919, and Number 3, Sunday 2 February 1919, and the "Deesweet Despatch" (which incorporated the "Walcourt Argus"), Number 4, Sunday 9 February 1919 to Number 11, Sunday 30 March 1919, including the unnumbered Special Edition of Wednesday 20 February, and Number 6/2, the second number to appear of Sunday 23 February (occasioned by the visit of Prime Minister Hughes to nearby Marcinelle). The print-run of each issue from Numbers 3 to 11 was only 50 copies (although the editorial in Number 4 claims a record-breaking edition of 51 copies for this self-styled "biggest and most progressive regimental paper in the Brigade")'. The first two issues were published in Walcourt, hence the original name. This issue is offered together with the second leaf of Number 2, and the first leaf of Number 3 (both comprised only two leaves). [3 items].
