An unsophisticated copy of this classic of American fiction. BAL 3895; Spiller and Blackburn 32; Wright I 601 Purple muslin, printed paper labels on spine. Spines faded to brown, labels somewhat scuffed, covers with a little spotting and minor wear, minor but expert repair to inner hinge of volume 1, recased and spine reinforced. Volume 2 spine slightly cocked. Owner signature in light pencil on endpapers. Good to very good copy in the publisher's original cloth (scarce thus).
