Original DJ is in pieces, but most of it is present. Title page and copyright page dated 1928. 358 pages. Pages a bit toned from age, slight crack at gutter…on title page. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'Off the Deep End' is a sophisticated and spirited collection of essays, sketches, and reviews from the versatile pen of Christopher Morley. A leading figure in American letters during the early twentieth century, Morley presents a series of meditations that capture the wit, intellectual re…stlessness, and humor of the late 1920s. The work traverses a wide range of subjects, from the quiet contemplations of a dedicated bibliophile to the bustling energy and eccentricities of metropolitan life. Throughout the collection, Morley's distinctive voice shines, blending scholarly erudition with an approachable, conversational style. He tackles the absurdities and delights of the modern world with a keen eye for detail, offering readers both amusement and philosophical insight. The pieces included here reflect his deep love for literature and his unique ability to find significance in the ordinary experiences of travel, work, and leisure. 'Off the Deep End' stands as a testament to Morley's mastery of the personal essay. It invites the reader to dive into a world of literary charm and sharp social observation, making it an essential read for those interested in the history of American journalism and the art of the belle-lettres. His reflections remain as engaging today as they were upon their debut, celebrating the enduring power of a curious mind. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
