Slightly sun-faded, rubbed corners and spine ends, bump to front fore edge. Top text block edge colour fading, remaining edges starting to tan. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper; volume shaken; pages just starting to age. Otherwise, internally neat and clean. Dust jacket spine sun-faded, has several closed tears, discolouration, some shelf wear, chipping to edges, mirrors book damage, not price clipped. Declaration is a 1957 anthology of short essays by British writers including Doris Lessing, Colin Wilson, John Osborne, John Wain, Kenneth Tynan, Bill Hopkins, Lindsay Anderson and Stuart Holroyd. The volume is closely associated with the angry young men movement, and the essays are presented as "credos" or manifestoes from the writers in question.
