Only original 1939 publication date listed but actually 1944 (Holroyd). Square and tight with fairly mild page toning. Some edge wear and rubbing to hinges. Still bright with no chipping, creases, or tea…rs. Though not marked in any way, this came directly from the library of H. Lawrence Hoffman who illustrated the front cover. His son, David Hoffman, the noted documentary filmmaker, has signed a statement with information about his father, the artist, and attesting that the book was from his library. A copy of this is included. A presentable, collectable copy of an uncommon book in any condition and at a great price.

Great cover of woman in red dress with eyes closed. Color still bright. Solid spine with little toning. Red top page edges with small 1/2" circle stain. Very clean pages and endpapers with no interior writing or marks. Not ex-library. A very good dustjacket over a near fine copy of this scarce title. From my smoke-free collection.
