    Hardcover. Condition: Good. Volume two only. Contemporary calf. 8vo. iv, 565, (8)pp. Engraved frontispiece and 11 other full-page plates. A curious selection of travels and histories which saw publication under various titles in 1738, 1739 and 1742. Contents include a section on whales and whaling in Greenland, diary of a winter at Spitzbergen, polar bears, the cataracts of the Nile, the shipwrecks of Manuel de Sousa and Fernao Mendes Pinto, descriptions of crocodiles, beavers and other creatures, Mexican history and much more. The captivating plates include a Greenland whale-fishery, Egyptian mummies, the cataracts of the Nile, Pinto's shipwreck and more. A good copy with some rubbing and wear to the calf. The front cover is neatly detached but present. The text is good with some scattered foxing and wear. Half of the front blank has been torn off. Scarce.
