Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'The Cradle Ship' is a charming and imaginative work of children's literature that masterfully blends the wonder of fairy tales with the educational value of nature study. The narrative follows two children, Win and Twin, as they embark on a magical journey aboard the titular 'Cradle Ship.' Guided by their parents, the children travel across the world to explore the origins of life in its many forms. Through gentle encounters with plants, insects, birds, and mammals, the story provides a poetic and accessible explanation of the mysteries of birth and reproduction for young readers. Written by Edith Howes, a celebrated educator and author, 'The Cradle Ship' stands as a significant historical example of early 20th-century nature writing. By framing biological truths within the context of a fantastical voyage, Howes demystifies the natural cycle of life while fostering a deep respect for the environment and its inhabitants. This classic work remains a testament to the power of storytelling as a tool for learning, offering a timeless and gentle introduction to the wonders of the natural world and the universal experience of growth and new beginnings. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations. Illustrated by Florence Mary Anderson. 4 colour plates of fairies, all present and in very good order. Edith Howes (1872-1954) was a New Zealand teacher and writer. Born in England, her family emigrated to New Zealand when she was a child. Her education led her to become an elementary school teacher. During her tenure, she noted that the teaching environment was held in small poorly ventilated rooms where teachers relied on rote methods and applications of corporal punishment. She instigated reforms which led to better school buildings, smaller class sizes and experiential learning. She also noted the lack of good books for teaching young children so she began to write some of her own. In all, she wrote 30 books for children, some of which ran into multiple printings. After retiring from teaching in 1919 she continued to write including some adult fiction All books are sent free by courier postage within New Zealand. ALL PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK.…
