Condition: Very good. No date, circa 1940, "printed in U.S.A.". Octavo, three-quarted cloth, 32 pages, with an errata on page 21. Signed and dated on endpaper, ''Karol Sidor 1940''. Sidor (1901-1953) was a Slovak nationalist politician and journalist, and Minister for Slovak Affairs in 1938. Active from an early age, he was undecided about full independence and as a result was largely sidelined during the Slovak Republic. Scarce document (no copy recorded in Worldcat) of Slovak activism in America folowing the First Czechoslavak Republic, with texts by Dr. Jozef Tiso and Joseph Husek, who both had been President of the Slovak League of America when their texts on questions of national sovereignty were written. Jozef Tiso (1887-1947) was a Slovak politician and Catholic priest who served as president of the First Slovak Republic, a client state of Nazi Germany during World War II, from 1939 to 1945. In 1947, after the war, he was executed for treason in Bratislava. Signed.
