Hardcover (Illustrated Boards). Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Illustrated (illustrator). First Edition. Preface by author and index. The text is illustrated with the very occasional black-and-white line drawing. Illustrated boards with green and black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper, same illustrations as the underlying board, green and black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. "Cooking Explained lays the foundation of a versatile and extensive command of the art of cooking by describing what happens to food during the process of cooking, and by paying close attention to the basic dishes and modes of preparation. Experimental cooking, cooking from these basic skills, is guided and encouraged." -- from front fold over panel blurb. Softening of the back strip edges with a little rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Age toning of the textbook edges and pages. Offset tanning to the end pages; and, loosely laid in is a review slip from the publishing house. A little chipping of the dustwrapper corners with some creasing of the dustwrapper edges rubbing of the panels but, the major damage has been sunning of the back strip and the immediate areas either side of the back strip and to the extreme edges of the dustwrapper. The laminate has started to lift along the edge of the rear dustwrapper  closest to the back strip and to the lower back strip edge. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
