His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Jo Culbertson was American bridge player, teacher, theorist and writer. her husban Ely Culbertson, a great showman, was widely regarded as "the man who made contract bridge", of which author Ian Fleming was a keen student and player. His novel Moonraker (1955), features the now-famous Bridge game where Drax and Meyer play Bond and M at Blades, where Bond deploys 'The Culbertson Hand'. See Gilbert, Section L. Moonraker (2), p.619.
