Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. Not Stated (illustrator). Two scarce works concerning 18th and 19th century English politician William Roscoe's opinions on the Napoleonic Wards, handsomely bound together. Two scarce works concerning the Napoleonic Wars and the early nineteenth century conflict between England and France, handsomely bound together as one.Considerations on The Causes, Objects, and Consequences of the Present War, and on The Expediency, or the Danger of Peace with France, was written in 1808 by William Roscoe, an English lawyer and politician. This compelling treatise was written to advocate for conciliatory responses to the conflict with France during the Peninsula War and Napoleonic Wars. The third edition of this work.A Letter to William Roscoe, Esq., Containing Strictures on His Late Publication Entitled "Considerations on The Causes, Objects, and Consequences of the Present War, and on The Expediency, or the Danger of Peace with France", was written in 1808 and is a heated response to the treatise written by William Roscoe the same year. This unauthored treatise argues for the conflicts with France to continue, in the interest of Great Britain. Two fascinating, early nineteenth century responses to the Napoleonic Wars, offering an insightful view of the thoughts of British individuals during this time. Handsomely rebound in half cloth binding with marbled boards and refreshed endpapers. Externally, lovely. Internally, firmly bound. Title pages are slightly age-toned, and there are a few spots and handling marks to the pages, but otherwise they are bright and clean, especially considering the age of the work. Near Fine. book.
