As Jesse Green argues, the reader must "work out, and usually backward, what trajectory led from takeoff to landfall. . :' Though Green believes such a task is created with "more than a hint of sadism," I confess only to be asserting that this is the world we live in, the tongue of understanding. Using the enchantment of language to express . oh, aspects of disenchantment, brief briefs about or against what we profess to hold to be true.
