Bound in publisher's original full blue cloth with the title stamped in gilt on the spine, top edge gilt, fore edge uncut. This set was originally issued in a single slipcase for both volumes and was extremely heavy. We had two new blue cloth slipcases lined with paper made to make it more manageable. The original vellum labels stamped in gilt were difficult to read from any distance so we had substituted two new red leather labels stamped in gilt which matched some of the coloring on the title page.

185x130mm. pp. viii, 1350. Bound in red morocco by W.H.Smith (blind stamp on rear pastedown). Douglas Cockerell managed the bindery from 1906-1914 and this plain but attractive binding would have been made under his supervision as it was given as a Cheltenham Ladies' College form prize to Margaret E. Giddings in 1914. The upper cover has the monogram "CLC" of the school. All edges gilt and in beautiful condition throughout save for foxing on the frontispiece photograph of a statue of Shakespeare which has also slight affected the title page.
