Softcover. Condition: Near Fine. Octavo metal binder measuring 9" x 6.5". Brown flexible leather boards. 144pp. Approximately 22,000 words. Tears and edgewear with the rear panel leather separating, thus very good. The manuscript is about near fine with wear and rubbing on the leather boards and clear, typed text and drawings. A manuscript containing information about several narcotics being used in 1918 compiled from various books and typed together, titled "Office Copy of Narcotic Notebook". The front page states that the notebook was copied from W. V. Linder's book in June of 1918. The notebook includes specimen indictments, court cases, terminology for slang in the "Underworld" as well as Chinese terminology for Opium use, classifications of common poisons and drugs, and definitions of narcotics. Several tables for the chemical weight and structure are also included and the larger section of the notebook compiles all the known information for each individual drug using labeled tabs beginning with Apomorphine and Cocaine and continuing through Heroin and Strychnine. The information included on these pages contains the chemical structure, weight, components, and affects as well as how to extract and test substances for the particular drug listed. There is also a section that lists the "Books used in compiling this âDope Book'". An interesting compilations of drug and narcotics information from 1918.
