The true first was published in 1956 for the McGill Poetry Series by Contact Press, Toronto. Full green cloth with silver titles and white endpapers. Remarkably well-preserved. The slim volume is tight with sharp corners and spine ends. Ghost of pencil erasure top edge of ffep. Innocuous tanning to the extreme edges of the heel and crown of the spine. The page edges and paste-downs are tanned - this is mostly noticeable on the latter. Flecks of an unknown substance are present in the margins of pages 24-25 - this is not foxing. The price-clipped jacket is bright and crisp. Minor tanning to the white section of the back panel with typical shelf wear, but the jacket is otherwise unaffected by the sun. There is a short tear with an associated crease at the top edge of the front panel, next to the spine. Short, closed tear in the bottom edge of the front panel, next to the spine. Minor wear at the crown of the jacket's spine, the edges of the folds and along the fore-edge of the front panel. Short, closed tear in the top edge of the back flap, and there is a tiny notch missing from the bottom edge of the back panel, next to the fore-edge. A pleasing copy of a scarcely found book.
