Murdock: "After his appointment in 1940 as Assistant Professor in the department of anthropology at Yale, he initiated a program of comparative studies of human reproduction, which was interrupted by World War II. . . . Ford contributed significantly to the corpus of such research through his widely admired comparative studies of human reproduction. In particular, his "Patterns of Sexual Behavior" [1951], co-authored with Frank Beach, has attained the status of a classic. . ."
