Softcover. Condition: vg-. First edition. Octavo. [3]. 56pp. Title page illustrated with decorative and deatiled woodlock printer's device. The work is a detailed list of the 613 Jewish laws, codified in the Hebrew bible, as presented according to Maimonides, in his work Sefer Mitzvot (The Book of Commandments). Here the laws ar…e presented side by side in Hebrew and Latin, in a two-column format, and translated by Calvinist orrientalist and scholar Johannes Leusden (1624-1699). The laws are divide into two groups, the first consisting of the 248 obligatory commandments, and the second group containing the final 365 prohibitive commandments. The front includes two pages of introductory text from translator Johannes Leusden, with decorative woodblock initials. Although the work is complete in itself, the work was originally bound with a collection of dissertations on the Hebrew bible by Leusden, titled "Philologus Hebraeus" issued in Utrecht by printer Francis Halma the same year. Text throughout in Latin and Hebrew. Disbound book block with some sporadic minor to light water stains to the title page and the rest of the text (mostly in the margins). In very good- condition overall.
