8vo, (187x125mm), 158p. +[2],32p publisher's adverts. Illustrations by Ernest Prater. Original green cloth lettered and illustration in red and blue in a Art Nouveau influenced design, printed decorated endleaves. Ms prize inscription from Kirkland (Kendal, Westmorland) Sunday School, dated 1899. The illustrator's main claim to fame is perhaps that he also acted as a special artist for Black and White at the Sino-Japanese War of 1894. Mild rubbing to cover with a few wrinkles to front panel. Front hinge starting. In clear protective cover. No publication date stated [1897]. Published by the SPCK. Black cloth with orange lettering; pictorial design featuring two gray and black ghostly figures. Leaf patterned endpapers; 92 pp. Publisher's adverts laid in. Story tells of the haunting of the White Room at Colston Grange at Christmas. BOOK.
