Pictorial gilt illustrations on front… board and spine. Hinges are in good condition, with minor wear towards front of the book. Text block remains bound well. Small inscription at front of book. Includes an assortment of illustrations in both black-and-white and color, the latter of which are protected by tissue guards. Some wear and small tears to some tissue guards. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce and nicely preserved early work from Rudyard Kipling, featuring his distinctive elephant and swastika that was commonplace with earlier pieces. Illustrations by William Heath Robinson (1872-1944), a British illustrator who is best known for his comical drawings of unnecessarily complex machines to complete simple tasks, which was known in Britain as a "Heath Robinson Contraption".
