Comprised of a typed manuscript from an early stage of David Pip…er's novel 'It's Warm Inside', entitled at this stage of the editing process 'It's Cold Outside'. With the author's occasional annotation or underline throughout, highlighting the editorial process.With nine letters loosely inserted, sent to and from the author to Chatto and Windus Publishers and Hughes Massie & Co. copyright agents. These letters present a number of editorial suggestions, also discussing fees, receipt of proofs and many other important details relating to publishing. With signatures from Chatto and Windus partner J. A. Cochrane. Dated 1952, the year prior to publication.Written by author and museum curator, David Piper, who often published under the pseudonym Peter Towry, such as the case with 'It's Warm Inside'.Pages have been hand-numbered in ink, with text to the recto of each page only.With an ink inscription of the author's name and address to the front paste down. Bound in full red cloth. Externally, sound, with damp staining to the boards, mainly to the front. Spine has darkened slightly. Offsetting to endpapers and ink inscription to the front paste down.
