The author of this book, Herman Charles Hoskier (1864-1938), was a biblical scholar, and British textual critic. Hoskier, as textual critic, generally but not entirely supported the Byzantine text-type against the Alexandrian text-type. In "Codex B and It Allies," Hoskier compared the text of Codex Vaticanus with Codex Sinaiticus, and showed how many significant disagreements the best witnesses of the Alexandrian text have. He attempted to demonstrate that Vaticanus presents a text which has been conformed to the Coptic versions. Hoskier compared text of the Minuscule 700 with the Textus Receptus and exhibits 2724 differences. Ex-library bookplate on inside of each front cover, and pocket on inside of back covers. Ex-library stamp to top and bottom edges. Minor to moderate soiling to front cover of first volume. Bindings and interior in good+ to very good condition.
