Contemporary quarter-calf & marbled boards. Frontispiece & 17 plates at the rear, followed by 22 pages of music. Clipped article about dance pasted to front end papers, moderate foxing to some plates, small old ink stain to outer margin of the last few leaves; in general a sound very good copy, complete with all plates. An earlier edition was published in London by James Bulcock in 1828. An important book in the literature of dance. [Gabriele Brandstettter, 2005: "In The Code of Terpsichore, published in 1828, Blasis cataloged a clearly defined "alphabet" of dance poses. This may be the first attempt at a comprehensive systemization of dance." ]. A difficult book to find complete and in decent condition.
