The woodcut illustrations are in the style of Joan Hassell and Robert Gibbings. *Gladys M Rees was elected ASWA in 1927 & SWA in 1939, painted landscapes and was a competent etcher with lots of variety. She illustrated and worked in scraperboard, did posters and illustrated approximately 9 books from 1922-1952 and in the reference work by Brigid Peppin & Lucy Micklethwaite 1983, this work is not listed.
