Condition; All clean with a small neat inscription to top corner of verso of endpaper "Elizabeth. With Love + Xs from Aunty Cecy? Xmas 1940". Very Good. * The other stories on various people and places inc; The title story of two hens, Kitty Alone (A Kittens adventures), Mary Luz and Mary Sol (two Spanish girls in the Civil war period), Jack a'Nory (a poor old man), The Mist Woman Of The Mountain (Irish tale of the Mist-Woman), The Roll of Red Flannel, (two shops and Father Christmas in Bradford on Avon). The woodcut illustrations are in the style of Joan Hassell and Robert Gibbings. *Gladys M Rees was elected ASWA in 1927 & SWA in 1939, painted landscapes and was a competent etcher with lots of variety. She illustrated and worked in scraperboard, did posters and illustrated approximately 9 books from 1922-1952 and in the reference work by Brigid Peppin & Lucy Micklethwaite 1983, this work is not listed.
