A later printing by Benjamin Olds in Newark, N.J., a firm established in 1790 and continued until about 1881. The book contains a complete printing of the important documents of the United States, followed by the population as found in the 1830 census. A list of the 24 states and three territories plus the District of Columbia is followed by a listing of "population within the principal Cities, Towns, and Villages in the United States, agreeably to the census of 1830." The most populous state then was New York, followed by Pennsylvania and Virginia. The city of New York lists 207,021 residents.
