Zahlreiche Medienauftritte, umstrittene Äußerungen zu den Ursachen der Terroranschläge am 11. September 2001 und die Veröffentlichung der Geschichte ihrer eigenen Vergewaltigung während einer Italienreise im Jahr 1978 haben sie allgemein bekannt gemacht.
