Soft cover. Condition: Good. BEMER, Robert. "A Checklist of Intelligence for Programming Systems" in Communications of the Association for Computing Machinery, 1959, vol 2 number 3, March 1959, published by the ACM. This is the single issue for March; three-holed punched at some point, comprising pp 1-22 (plus 12pp of ads); the Bremer paper appears on pp 8-13. GOOD copy. [++] From the introduction: "It would be very presumptive to attempt to present an exhaustive survey of intelligence in even the most narrow and limited field, which the design and application of computer systems certainly is not, since it has the capability of representing the inherent universality of thought processes. This paper is intended only to create expandable framework for additions by others. A detailed working knowledge of computer systems is desirable to grasp all implications of this checklist, because much is left unsaid. but most of the elements are self-explanatory. There are two parts. Part is a simple Yes/No checklist for the system designer. It may either jog his memory about something he has temporarily forgotten or show him something new and useful hoped that his own creativity that may be triggered to process further new ideas. Part II contains expansions of some of the points in the checklist, for amplification and explanation." Bremer at this time was Director of Programming, UNIVAC division of Sperry Rand.
