Lorsqu en décembre 1985, Peugeot Talbot Sport montre ses six voitures championnes de rallye à César, l artiste se souvient alors de sa première idée de 1959 : la compression de voiture à plat. Les Championnes sont réduites en "crêpes" de 30 cm d épaisseur. Ces compressions en plaques évoquent par bien des aspects les sculptures plates de la fin des années 60, mais elles diffèrent essentiellement par le mode de traitement mécanique compression et équarissage. Plus encore qu un hommage, ces compressions constituent l image même de leur mémoire. Sont également mises en scène d autres voitures 205 de série, qui ont permis au sculpteur d aller encore plus loin dans cette nouvelle démarche, qui renouvelle son style de compression élaboré à partir d un matériau et d une méthode opérationnelle spécifique.
