Apoz esta, que da mesma sorte se extrahiu em pouco tempo, se fez na mesma Typ. uma terceira edição a qual, pelo que me dizem, tambem já desappareceu do mercado. Pena é que, tractando-se de dar á luz este inedito (se andaram n'isso bem ou mal os editores, não me toca avalial-o), não procurassem para estas edições um transumpto mais correcto. Ha, entre outras, na Bibl. de Évora uma antiga copia d'este processo, mui mais exacta e perfeita em todo o sentido, e contendo além d'isso mais o depoimento de uma vigesima terceira testemunha, que não apparece nas impressas. Ácerca do assumpto, recommenda-se por mui curiosa uma carta do proprio rei D. Affonso VI ao Papa, e outra a sua irmã a Rainha de Inglaterra, nas quaes relata a sua prisão e as circumstancias do seu divorcio. Estes dous documentos, que lançam alguma luz sobre os factos, appareceram pela primeira vez a publico nas Memorias para a vida e reinado de D. Exemplar apresenta ex-libris moderno de António de Sousa Falcão. Obra manuscrita no final do século XVIII ou início do século XIX a uma só mão, firme e clara, recolhendo e transcrevendo todas as informações legais sobre este caso. O presente manuscrito, contendo a transcrição do processo de divórcio entre o rei e rainha de Portugal, consumado em 19 de Fevereiro de 1669, contém o depoimento de 22 testemunhas, faltando a 23ª testemunha mencionada por Inocêncio. Apesar deste manuscrito apresentar a mesma sequência e conteúdo no que respeita aos depoimentos das testemunhas, no entanto tem uma grande diferença na apresentação das subsequentes peças processuais, transcrevendo as mais importantes e remetendo para outras que não transcreve, e acrescentando mais dados e peças processuais relativamente às que se encontram nas edições impressas. Por estes motivos o presente manuscrito apresenta uma originalidade e uma melhor sistematização como fonte do conhecimento da instrução deste processo judicial. Os manuscritos sobre o Processo do Rei circularam em cópias deste processo em que D. Afonso VI é confirmado como impotente e incapaz de procriar. Vide, p. ex., 19º testemunho: «[.] obedeceu ela testemunha ao que lhe ordenava, e estando com El Rei sobre a Cama duas vezes, entre as quais passaram dez ou doze dias, de ambas elas, querendo S. M. ter cópula com ela testemunha, a não podendo consumar de nenhuma sorte, ainda que ela testemunha era viúva, havendo parido quatro vezes, e somente em uma e outra ocasião derramou semente fora do vaso natural, sem a poder penetrar, do que se não espantou por ouvir a muitas pessoas que El-Rei era impotente e não podia comunicar nenhuma mulher [.].
