A later printing of the First American edition, published in 2001 - the sixty-second impression, as indicated by the number line on the printer's page: 70 69 68 67 66 65 64 63 62. The book was first published by Little Brown & Co., Boston on 16th J…uly 1951. This edition has been completely reset, as stated on the printer's page, and carries the same dustwrapper design as the first edition. Also stated on the printer's page is 'First Back Bay paperback edition, January 2001.' ***Please note that the front free endpaper has been torn out of this copy. ***Very good in black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine, and an embossed publisher's monogram to the front board. The gilt is still beautifully bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper. The boards are clean and unmarked, with no bumps or creasing. Corners sharp. There is no reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. There is no foxing to the page block edges which are clean. Internally the book is also very good, with no inscriptions, but as mentioned, the front free endpaper has been removed by a previous owner (probably to remove an ownership inscription). Clean pages with no foxing, and no creases or tears. paper stock lightly tanned. ***In a very good dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of $25.99. The dustwrapper is complete, with no serious creases, chips or tears - just some rubbing and light creasing to the top of the spine. There are also some light marks to the white areas of the dustwrapper, and the red colour on the spine has faded.
