Young Henry, who lives on the island of Martinique in the Caribbean, decides to catch a mongoose, a small wild animal of the fields, sell it & become rich. But when his little sister makes a pet of the captured mongoose, his plan goes awry! The artist has created original sketches & paintings he made while visiting. Outstanding color illus. NOT X-LIBRARY. Very scarce in this condition. Endearing story. Illustrated by Thollander, Earl.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Tight clean first printing copy in jacket. Decorated blue-green boards. Pictorial end papers. Child's signature to front end paper. VG- jacket is price-intact with modest soiling edge wear (mostly at corners.) Interior is nice and clean. Beautiful illustrations. Text in English and French.
