Covers handmade from fine linen and cotton rags "with a handful of last summer's flowers". Published by the Botanical Club of Wisconsin. Increase Allen Lapham was Wisconsin's first scientist and scholar. A Catalogue of Plants & Shells has been called "the first scientific work to be published west of the Great Lakes".

There is a tiny scuff on the front cover, and just a hint of age-toning to the covers. With the booklet, there is a letter describing the edition (the letter signed in print by Walter E. Scott - Project Leader for the BCW). The letter states as hand-sewn by Elizabeth and Jay Benforado at the Night Heron Press in Madison. Also laid-in (as published) is a photograph of the Wisconsin State Historical Society's copy of the original edition. The original was considered to be Wisconsin's first scientific imprint, and the first "west of the Great Lakes and north of St. Louis". ; 25B; 6 x 3-3/4"; 12 pages.
