ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 2013). 2013 1st edition. 8vo (155 x 215mm). Pp404. Colour and b/w photographs. Green boards, upper board and spine titled in gilt. Fine second-hand copy in dust-wrapper. "Over 400 pages of 'Original Thought' by the greatest angling thinkers this country has ever known make this the book that every carp angler regardless of experience will want to own. A unique piece of carp angling history with superb photography throughout. There is a well known old English saying that 'two heads are better then one' when it comes to solving a problem! It was with that saying at the back of my mind that in 1991 I came up with the idea of the Rotary Letter. Not that it was a totally original idea however, since the likes of Dick Walker and his friends had a very similar thing going many years ago. I just suddenly found myself with the greatest angling minds at my disposal; the equivalent of the Mensa of carp fishing minds, the UK's top thinking anglers, and I was quick to make use of this huge pot of knowledge. These few were my original 'rotarians' - Rod Hutchinson, Kevin Maddocks, Jim Gibbinson, Steve Allcott, Zenon Bojko and me of course. Who could argue that I'd got the creme de la creme of original thinking? Funnily enough this 'meeting of minds' happened a couple more times in the next 25 years as editor and owner of Big Carp magazine, and each time I resurrected the Rotary Letter again." The book has contributions from eighteen of the finest carp anglers around. .

Told in his own words, this is the story of Albert Romp's fishing career. "One of carp angling's characters and founder member of the Savay syndicate - the 'Looney Rota' was named so because of him. Sally the carp was named by him when he caught the country's biggest ever 'winter caught' common, many moons ago, and for a while Sally was the world's best-known carp. Inventor of the unhooking mat, Albert rocked the angling world a decade later by smashing the record brace with two huge spawny monsters from the North Bay. Pioneer of Cassien, the rivers Lot, Seine and Yonne and Bulgaria, Albert is a seasoned traveller, but his heart has always been on the banks of Savay. Now here's your chance to learn all about this iconic angler from his early beginnings at Furnace, Chobham and Pippingford, fishing alongside the icons of the seventies - Hutchinson, Little, Middleton and Maddocks in the Colne Valley, always with long-time fishing buddy, Bob Baker." The content of the books in this series will be a mixture of articles from the archives of Big Carp, life histories of famous anglers and original articles specially commissioned for the series." Told in his own words, this is the story of Steve Briggs' fishing career. Briggs' career as a serious carp angler began with a 27lb 12oz fish at Brooklands, which would have been his first 20lb+ capture, and a hard to beat personal best, had the fish not been foul-hooked. The frustration of this, and probably a sneaking sense of guilt which turns up here and there in the text, spurred Briggs on to beat this near-miss legitimately. In his first season in the Darenth Valley, he caught four thirties "a feat unheard of at the time" and went on to explorehundreds of waters at home and abroad in search of huge carp; Belgium, Holland, Morocco, Portugal, Lake Raduta, South Africa, Rainbow, the St. Lawrence, Lake Ontario, Austria, and elsewhere. "In fact, he has caught carp of over 50lbs from five different countries. Being the only angler in the world to do this is his claim to fame." Steve Briggs was one of the pioneers of Lac St. Cassien, and his book Cassien .and Beyond, is profitably read in conjunction with this autobiography. Cassien .and Beyond, our stock no. 25426, reduced from £30.00 to £9.95. This first edition has an incorrect ISBN (9780951512715) printed within the book. "Ritchie is without doubt one of big carp fishing's true legends. He dominated the seventies and eighties catching more 35lb-plus carp than anyone of that era. Propelled into stardom in the early eighties with the capture of the North Lake Forty [Bazil], two pounds over the official British record [which he refused to claim, maintaining that Chris Yates was the true record holder], he became a household name and soon had a weekly column in the Angling Times chronicling his exploits at Lake Cassien. "Whereas the Rotary Letter Volume 1 was written largely whilst I was fishing in the Colne Valley rubbing shoulders and bouncing ideas off the Savay and Harefield anglers, Volume 2 was spawned when I resurrected it some time later having moved valleys to the Black Water Valley, this time fishing the notoriously difficult Yateley complex in the thought provoking company of the one and only Terry Hearn. The letter also evolved in its composition. The birth of the 'Rotary Letter Live' was upon us. Whereas previously the letter was only posted in the mail, social get-togethers either on the bank or at my house brought a whole new meaning to 'pooling ideas' and with several of us together the ideas flowed. RL Live was not restricted to Yateley either - Sutton, the Grand Union Canal even the mighty Colnemere played host to its contributors. This is a script that every carp angler, regardless of experience, should read again and again; there are years' worth of knowledge condensed into these 300 pages." "Most carp anglers will end up fishing day ticket venues at some point every year, and this book will give you the extra knowledge and advice to make those sessions a success." "With the right tactics and techniques, day ticket fishing can be extremely rewarding, but it's a very different approach to that of syndicate fishing." Day ticket waters "tend to be hard fished with a quick changeover of angler and constant introduction of different baits, but use this to your advantage and you can increase your catch rate by many times. Short hit-and-run sessions can prove devastating. The angler that hones this approach can be unstoppable. .I have several really good tactical anglers writing in this book, along with information on some of today's top day ticket venues. It would be impossible to document them all, but by taking a cross section through some of the best, there will be useful information that can be taken anywhere and tried (as well as) as well as actual accounts of sessions and campaigns on .specific venues, which include Sandhurst, Farlows, Linear, Linch Hill, Wraysbury 1, Catch 22 and Cottington, day ticket venues that have consistently featured in the Big Carp Top 10 Day Ticket waters every year." The content of the books in this series will be a mixture of articles from the archives of Big Carp, life histories of famous anglers and original articles specially commissioned for the series." He has seen and been part of every era this historic lake has been through. John fished alongside Lenny Middleton, Kevin Maddocks and Andy Little during the birth of the hair rig. When Rod Hutchinson wrote 'the Carp Strikes Back' and enthralled the carp world with his tales of Savay's monsters, John was by his side.
