Edizione originale, con prefazione di André Guex, di questa raccolta di ricordi d'ascensioni dell'al…pinista ginevrino, che segue di qualche anno il debutto Les conquêtes de ma jeunesse (1942) e rende conto delle scalate tentate e compiute fra il 1933 e il 1946 sul Massiccio del Monte Bianco, sul Cervino e nel Vallese. Roch fu autore di numerose prime scalate nelle Alpi Occidentali, in Groenlandia e Himalaya; operatore cinematografico e fotografo, documentò gran parte delle spedizioni cui prese parte; esperto di valanghe ed capace sciatore, collaborò con Ted Ryan e Billy Friske alla creazione del resort sciistico di Aspen (Colorado).
