This book explores the relationship between the capacity and phase difference of paraffined paper condensers as functions of temperature and frequency through a series of detailed measurements and observations. The book examines various theories of absorption, including Maxwell's theory of a heterogeneous dielectric, Houllevigue's theory of frictional resistance, Pellat's theory, and von Schweidler's modified Pellat theory. The author concludes that Maxwell's theory, with some modification to account for the effects of temperature and frequency, provides the best explanation for the observed behavior of paraffined paper condensers.
