Le vedute più piccole rappresentano Ormuz, all'ingresso del Golfo Persico, Canonor in India e la fortezza portoghese di El Mina, in Africa occidentale.Tiratura originale.L'opera è tratta dal Civitates Orbis Terrarum il primo atlante organico al mondo, pubblicato a Colonia tra il 1572 ed il 1671. Curato da Georg Braun e inciso in gran parte da Franz Hogenberg, conteneva 546 prospettive, vedute a volo d'uccello e vedute cartografiche di città di tutto il mondo.Original etching depicting the antique towns of Calcutta, Ormuz, Canonor, and El Mina. Printed in Cologne in the year 1575.Georg Braun, born in 1542, and Frans Hogenberg, born around 1536, German publishers and engravers, have issued the famous six-volume town book Civitates Orbis Terrarum between 1572 and 1618. The volumes were originally published in Latin, followed by German and French translations. The plates passed to Jan Janssonius who reissued the town books in 1657 while removing the costume figures on the plates. Braun died in 1622, Hogenberg in 1588. Cfr. Tratta dall'opera 'Nuova raccolta di tutte le piu illustri et famose citta di tutto il mondo' pubblicata da Donato Rasicoti (o Rasciotti o Rascicotti). Esemplare in ottimo stato di conservazione. M…olto rara. Francesco Valegio (1560 ca.-1650 ca.) operò quasi esclusivamente a Venezia come pittore, disegnatore, incisore, editore e mercante di stampe. La produzione artistica fu notevole: ritratti, soggetti storici e religiosi, illustrazioni per libri, carte geografiche, piante di città e incisioni di paesaggio. La sua opera calcografica più impegnativa è senz'altro la 'Raccolta delle più illustri et famose città di tutto il mondo' alla quale il Valegio contribuì con 112 incisioni mentre altre,fino al numero di 322, sono state eseguite da diversi incisori, tra cui molte da Martino Rota da Sebenico.

Mostro marino cavalcato da un arpista e imbarcazioni. Motto "Musica vel fera maris mon…stra mitigat" La musica calma perfino i mostri marini. La Sciagraphia Cosmica, venne ampliata sotto la supervisione di Kieser dopo la morte di Meisner nel 1625, arrivando quindi ad una composizione di 800 magnifiche incisioni.Ogni opera è caratterizzata da un motto sopra l'immagine, e da versi emblematici (in latino o tedesco). L'opera è la combinazione di due generi allora popolari, il libro degli stemmi e il "Teatro delle città". Tra i maestri incisori e miniatori che contribuirono a questa serie ci sono Matthäus Merian, Sebastian Furck, Christian Stimmer e forse anche Meisner stesso, che concepì l'opera e contribuì a buona parte della prosa.
