The Calcutta University Commission was appointed by the Government of India in 1917 to conduct an investigation into the problems connected with the University of Calcutta. The University of Calcutta was established on the 24 January 1857. It is located in the city of Kolkata (previously Calcutta), India, and is the first modern university in the Indian subcontinent. It is a state-government administered urban-based affiliating and research university. In paper bindings. Externally, worn. There is some significant wear to the extremities. The paper boards are brittle, resulting in some chipping. Front board of volume iii detached but present and the rear board of volume ii is missing. Internally, the text block is firmly bound.
