First Edition
4to. [24 pp (unpaginated)]. Colour-illustrated throughout, colour-illustrated self-printed wrappers, with cover art of red 1954 Buick Super convertible against blue field rather than orange on front cover (slight shelfwear, slight edgewear at spine), still VG copy. First edition of this scarce dealer's promotional catalogue for 1954 Buick passenger cars. The 1954 Buicks featured the new larger General Motors C-body with vertical windshield pillars, and the new panoramic windshield, adopting the new pontoon appearance, and the addition of Dagmar bumpers to the front. The Roadmasters and Supers were large cars with nearly 5.5 inches more wheelbase length, and nine inches overall than the 1953 models. Fitzpatrick (b. 1919) launched his career by apprenticing under John Tjaarda at the Briggs Body Co. as a designer in 1937, and later designed the Darrin Packard One-Eighty sedan, before working for General Electric during World War II. After the War Fitzpatrick illustrated for Mercury, Lincoln, Nash & Plymouth, before being recruited for the 1953 Buick portfolio, and later granted exclusive contract with GM. No copies located in Worldcat.
