Leather Bound. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Lyon (1796-1832) was an English officer in the Royal Navy and explorer of Africa and the Arctic. Lyon is best remembered for the entertaining journals he kept and for the pencil drawings he completed in the Arctic. This volumes is his narrative of the 1824 expedition aboard the poorly performing HMS Griper and the subsequent failure to find the fabled Northwest Passage. Includes a folding map and 7*engraved plates. xvi+198pp. Rebound in contemporary calf boards with the original spine relaid. Gilt boarder to boards. Spine has four raised bands, gilt decoration and a black morocco title plate. Light rubbing to edges of boards. Marbled page edges.
