Cloth. Condition: Very Good Indeed. None (illustrator). First edition. A scarce first edition of this detective story by John Rhode, in the very scarce original dust wrapper. The first edition of the work. In the original price clipped dust wrapper. Scarce, particularly in the original dust wrapper. Bricklayer's Arms is the forty first novel in Rhode's successful series of novels, featuring Lancelot Priestley, an Armchair Detective. The work was published in the US by Dodd Mead with the alternative title Shadow of a Crime. Bricklayer's Arms is unusual in that Priestley plays more of a backseat roll, with most of the plot focusing around Inspector Waghorn of Scotland Yard. A scarce copy of this detective novel, in the original scarce dust wrapper. In the original red cloth binding in the original price clipped dust wrapper. Externally in excellent condition with minor shelf wear only. Dust wrapper is sound with significant repair and reinforcement to the reverse of the wrap. Section, approximately two inches long, is lacking to the rear of the wrap with archival paper in its place. Section of the spine has also been repaired with yellow archival paper. Dust wrapper is clipped. The odd mark and spot to the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning due to paper used. Bookseller label to front pastedown. Very Good Indeed. book.
