Captain Cooper was born in Baghdad, kidnapped at 10 and held for ransomand followed a colourful few years, he became fluent in 7 languages and joined the French Foreign Legion at 15 and won its first Croix de Guerre at Gallipoli a year later. He obtained his release after being wounded and then roved the front lines in France and Italy , serving both the Italian and British Armies. He returned to the Foreign Legion after the war serving in Sahara and Morocco and fought many battles in the Riff Campaign. In world war II he rejoined the British and trained as a secret service agent and parachutist. A quite remarkable autobiography. Seller Ref: M10011.
